(Its a Sanskrit word used by Ambi in ANNIYAN. Meaning: – I am fine… Everything ok here… Hope you and your family doing well… etc… etc…)
Most of you have asked about Stanwinston Studios role in Endhiran.
Yes. Endhiran is the first Indian movie to use Stanwinston Studio’s Animatronics technology. We all are proud and happy to be associated with No.1 Hollywood studio who did a great job in movies like Jurassic Park, Predator, Terminator, Ironman and the recent Avatar.
Myself, Rajini sir and our Technical crew have been at Los Angeles for couple of weeks at Stanwinston Studios for scanning, make-up test and preproduction works in July 2008. We all are excited that we are working at the place where Steven Spielberg, James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger have worked.
After 1½ half years of preparatory work a group of top technicians came to Sun Studio’s Chennai sets and worked around for 4 months. 22 scenes of Endhiran Movie have been shot using Animatronics and Special Make-ups. Most of Important scenes was shot lively with Rajini sir using Animatronics without CGI.
At the end of the day Stanwinston people told that they are very happy that Endhiran movie utilized maximum animatronics techniques in so many scenes in all possible ways, which is very rare in Hollywood too… Cool….

Wishing you a very happy Pongal…I am very eagerly waiting to watch Enthiran Movie…I have couple of requests for the movie…
a) Please have sub titles for the movie. This will help the movie to reach more people…I live in LA and there are lot of people who do not know Tamil but would love to watch the movie if there are subtitles so please consider that.
b) Please make sure you some form of availability online for the areas where movie cannot be released on time…You know that all the recent tamil movies are available online within few days…Even i have to agree that i have watched few movies this year…I was totally against watching movies till this year but you know what the quality of movie is awful and they dont deserve a $10 ticket…But if the same awful movie is available online for $2 i am willing to pay for it…Please make necessary steps so that the movie is affordable and available in all areas. That will prevent online piracy…Sivaji was sold for $21 in LA…I was willing to pay that amount ( i watched 3 times in 3 days) but i know it was not affordable for quite a few people… They waited for a week or two when the prices went down…But if the movie becomes available online people would watch it online itself…
c) I think there should be a legal way of delivering content on the internet and the same is true for the movies…So please try to evaluate this option and use it for Endhiran…I think it will be a good model for all the movies as well….
So please consider the above points and make sure that it is affordable and available in all locations…I am waiting to watch thalaivar in Endhiran and want the movie to be a blickbuster hit and break the records of 3 Idiots (Its an excellant movie)

Hi Sir, Happy Pongal to all Enthiran team. Recently Superstar stated in Kerala Interview that Endhiran will release in July 2010. We all fan are upset for the delay. We hope to watch with our kutties & whole family during summer vacation (April/May). It will be great treat for us and for students, Kids to enjoy the movie during summer vacation. Please try your level best to release ASAP. We can understand that you will have lots of work for the movie. Even though we want to see our Superstar earlier. Regards, Vazeer – Coimbatore. India la biggest bollywood ku kedaikara alavuku investment tamil industry la illena koda u take a movie like anniyan indian etc.. u are the best using limited resources and making a movie on par wid hollywood…
Interesting fact is that Indian which was nominated for oscars was the lowest budget movies among all other foriegn movies nominated that year… U are my hero

All I wanted to ask is — How are you going to use Ash’s international star status in Endhiran?? I mean, what’s your plan about releasing the film in French, Portuguese, Spanish etc etc where Ash has so many fans??
And btw, what are the titles of the film in English and Hindi?? Heard it is Yanthram in Telugu!
And my request to you is, please release the film with atleast 6,000 prints (because 3 idiots had 4,000 prints just for a Hindi release). Now that Endhiran is gonna release in so many languages, obviously the prints will be many!!
And please sir don’t release the Hindi/English versions later. Take as much time as you want but release the film in all the possible languages on the same date! That’s when the film gets the maximum publicity, which means maximum hype and record-breaking openings!!
Also, please start the publicity and promos and trailers of the film at least 2-3 months before the release date just like any Bollywood/Hollywood film gets publicised. Don’t make the film get delayed like the Hindi Sivaji, that’ll be too late! BTW, I loved the songs of the Hindi Sivaji, especially Vaaji Vaaji and Balleilakka!

At the first i am not happy ur self announced the film robo
at Hindi.Bcoz we Know ur film very technically and Superbly Hollywood range(I expect after this film no one is use the word hollywood range) .at the name goes to hindi. but now very happy ur self doing film at tamil. we have very good technician All over the field. Sir i have a curious question , is it possible to include a stereoscopic 3D in Endhiran atleast in the end of the movie.! something like ice age3 , avatar 3D , etc. Harry potter order of the phoenix had it at the end of the movie.! like 20 minutes…Do we have a budget for that.?

Avatar CGI so good because they used a separate camera for the face alone, resulting in realistic facial expression, many things we can learn from james cameron…
And making a video game is a good idea, but the quality is important….Even avatar video game didn’t do so well.
A good video game is like metal gear solid or GTA.
Finally i hope all the mo cap calculations involving superstar has been recorded and kept safely – it could be useful in the future, we want to preserve his stylish movements for the future…

UBKS….. sir it was great to c the boundaries Indian, especially Tamil Cinema is crossing. Sir I have a query which I think I can ask only a great director like u.
Enthiran a Sci Fi Movie with state of art technology with a spell bounding concept touching international levels….Why should v have songs like any other commercial cinema? I think this movie can rock the world without songs as I personally feel songs (especially romantic) ones will spoil the genre. I am not against songs, I am a great lover of songs especially in u r movie….but this is my humble request….expecting u r reply

Happy Pongal to you sir. Thanks for uploading the pics of the crew in Stan Winston Studios. If I am not wrong, on the first day of shooting there was a poster with the names of Mary Vogt as costume designer and a Chinese stunt master who has worked in the Matrix trilogy and also Industrial Light & Magic for CG. Could you post more information about these people?

sir endhiran photos looks very nice, so you are introducing the animatronics to indian cinema it’s good everytime you are inventing new techniques to indian cinema only you could be do that, i have read in many books about jurrasic park during the release time of that movie it was shooted with the real thing of dinosaurs which is kept of in back and taking camera it looks in camera original thing it was too great looks original, so i think endhiran also will be like that….

Great Work from Great People always gives great results, first of all thanks for taking time and working with professionals for Animatronics and CGI instead of doing very bad graphics like amman films with low budget, its good to invest on technology and time to make it feel good movie… ie as an audience once the movie is started we should feel its real like how jurassic park, terminator and latest avatar won the hearts of million, if its bad no one ll like it but industry should not always say we compare and like only hollywood films if its good movie and taken in a good way everybody around the world love it, nobody can stop that.
I wish endhiran team a happy pongal and thalaivar ku spl valthukkal. Whole team is working more professionally and hard so success and smile s there for sure.

Good to see that Indian cinema will be going higher place once Endhiran release ! Hope to see the film on April 14th 2010. Pls do show us teaser or trailer of the movie.
Also pls do take note to provide SUBTITLE in ENGLISG/MALAY for ENDHIRAN movie to be released in MALAYSIA since many Malaysians do like to watch SuperStar Rajnikanth movies. I saw many Malay and Chinese came to watch your JEANS and SIVAJI but there are no proper SUBTITLE in malaysian theatres for Tamil MOVIES !!!
Kindly take note of this and I’m pretty sure this movie will BREAK BOX OFFICE records set by 3Idiots.

It is really nice to know that 90% of Enthiran is completed. We are just waiting for the remaining 10% to be completed and the movie to hit the theatres soon. Its been a long wait by us for ROBO(since the time you announced this project with Kamal sir and finally thalaivar Rajini sir as Enthiran). Really nice that you started the blog and updating in regular basis even in your tight schedule with my schedule. After sivaji I am sure this movie will take our tamil industry to new world. Hello Sir… Iniya thai thirunaal nal vaazhthukkal. Sir, a couple of important questions regarding Endhiran:
-> You had earlier stated that Endhiran will not have inspirations or similarity with Hollywood movies like iRobot, AI, Avatar etc. But you must be knowing that such movies incur a lot of time in making itself. A minimum of 3-4 years will be involved in making the movie, before it is released. Avatar took 14 years, in fact, for things to synchronize technicalle and conceptually. But 3 to 4 years for such movies is a short time there, but here, even 1 year seems to be a long time, which our fans can’t wait. But will these 1 and half years be sufficient for you to produce a technically-sound and a quality Endhiran, as you are using Animatronics?
-> Second, sometimes, the common difference which we find between sci-fi Indian and Hollywood movies is that sci-fi is handled as a fantasy here, and as a concept in Hollywood, with much research. Hence, sci-fi Indian movies are entertaining but devoid of logic, but sci-fi Holl movies will have logic, as well.Will Endhiran be targeted at entertainment fantasy or conceptual logic or will you balance both?
-> Last, I had already mentioned in “Ask Me” link of yours. Anyways, we fans from Tamil, will ensure a great success to Endhiran. But, I feel with the cost involved and recognition the movie should get with sci-fi concept, the movie should become a global hit. In brief,” Endhiran should not be only a Tamil movie; It should be a global movie with Tamil as its langauge”. So, in addition to sub-titles, kindly suggest Mr. Kalanidhi Maran to publicize it during IPL 2010. IPL gets maximum focus by international cricket fans. If Sun Pictures becomes a sponsor/co-sponsor of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with promotional advertisements for Endhiran in Sony Max and in IPL grounds, just imagine the amount of publicity, it would get. Kindly consider and respond, please!

Now what is my suggestion is, if you tie up with Citibank with free Enthiran DVD, Making of Endhiran, Audio CD with SS autograph & background music of Endhiran. If there is one Director whose movies are most anticipated they are that of Shankar’s. He remains a Director par excellence technically and technologically. A Director who is known to take as much time to complete a project as his desire for perfection, he leaves no stone unturned until his movies are certified picture-perfect. His movies bedazzles us with his penchant for perfection.Spectacular locations, seamless scene transitions , brilliant cinematography , chart topping numbers and curious experiments in “animatronics” technology and special effects are compulsory in his projects. He is not known to churn many movies in rapid succession and carefully plans his projects at his own desirous pace.
Shankar also has the uncanny ability to shroud his movies under a blanket of secrecy, getting a whiff of his anticipated projects happens only under his terms. Under the current threats of piracy, Shankar is a step ahead and rightfully so.The highlight of Shankar’s movies lie in his ability to convey a social message wrapped with a bright red bow of commercial appeal that the audience eagerly clutch on. Shankar’ movies are grand and elaborate. It would be best if the Producer of Shankar’s movies just goes with the flow as there is no room for shoe string budgets. Shankar became a Producer himself and under the S pictures banner he has encouraged upcoming Directors with his knack of identifying upcoming good talent. Every movie of Shankar’s from 1993 has been a commercial success and has ranked high on the entertainment quotient. There have been some notable highlights in the nine movies he has directed so far. These are my favorite aspects or rather much savored bits and pieces of the fabulous nine -
1993 – Gentleman – Starring Arjun Sarja, Madhu – The catchy ” Chiku Buku” song propelled Prabhudeva to fame. An entertaining Robinhood story where Jeeva’s cinematography is captivating.
1994 – Kadhalan – Prabhu Deva, Nagma, Vadivelu, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Raghuvaran, Girish Karnad – Every song of this movie was delightfully refreshing. “Muqala Muqabla” became a chart topper and Nagma for once fitted the role. Vadivelu’s comical ugliness was his stepping stone to success. A refreshing love drama.
1996 -Indian -Kamal Haasan, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar – Enjoyed the comedy scenes and great dialogues penned by the creative Sujatha. Kamalhaasan’s acting as the principally correct father from the era of freedom fighters is unforgettable. Manisha and Urmila provide ample fluff.
1998 – Jeans – Prashanth Thyagarajan, Aishwarya Rai, Nassar, Lakshmi – Wonderful locations for song sequences, the best being the romantic interlude shot at the seven wonders of the world. Aishwarya breaks free in bits and pieces from stiffness finally, shades of her talent was revealed by Shankar.
1999 – Mudhalvan – Arjun Sarja, Manisha Koirala, Sushmita Sen, Raghuvaran – A second time lucky hit for Arjun. The late Raghuvaran gives a fine performance as the corrupt Chief Minister. A favorite song is ” uppu karuvadu”.
2001 – Nayak: The Real Hero - Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Pooja Batra, Amrish Puri, Sushmita Sen – A remake of Mudhalvan, I preferred Mudhalvan.
2003 – Boys – Siddharth Narayan, Genelia D’Souza, Bharath, Nakul – Each one of these stars had a sensational head start with this movie . Lovely songs and a yuppy refreshing story.
2005 – Anniyan – Vikram, Sadha, Vivek, Prakash Raj – A wonderful thriller and a brilliant performance from Vikram. Yet to come across a better thriller in tamil movies. An all time favorite of mine under the Shankar banner.
2007 -Sivaji: The Boss – Rajinikanth, Shriya Saran, Vivek, Suman, Raghuvaran – Enjoyed the comedy tracks of Vivek and Rajni. “Mottai” Rajni is delightful and watching this movie first day, first show in Melbourne remains an experience. Thotha Tharini’s magnificient sets remain etched, art direction at its best.
Not one of Shankar’s movie has bored me and he has entertained us to the hilt and continues to do with his refreshing ideas. He remains my favorite Director and I await Endhiran, the perfect ten ( th ) with bated breath.

You have always conveyed a strong message in most of your films( corruption in our system,people,politicians etc.) One main difference I’ve noticed between our country and other western countries is the traffic sense among the people, it is not the traffic rules because rules are more or less same in most of the countries. I’d like to see some sequence in your future film wherein the people get educated on how important it is to abide to traffic rules and thereby improve their traffic sense. I strongly feel it can take us a step forward if we can improve our traffic sense.

). Also, I am proud to say I still have my Sivaji tickets from back then:D
Iam actually in Toronto. As you probably know, Sivaji had released in several major theaters here. Had an exam the next day, but, c’mon, Thalaivar + Shankar combo or a Psychology exam? So, I went about an hour early and asked the guy at the counter for the screen Sivaji was playing in, and the guy was like, “You see that unbelievably long line (stretching from one end of the theatre to another end). Please go join it”. Must say, I was one of those millions who were completely entertained. Thanks to Sivaji and its success here, they started releasing several tamil movies (even the really bad ones

Hello sir,My suggestion for u is that u should make enthiran in such a way that u should be invited by hollywood, and by gods grace u have the ability to become the worlds best director (really sir) and u should direct a movie with tom cruise or de caprio or tom hanks. sir u have the talent to write scripts for them , but the thing u have to do is that everyone in america and europe should know ur name . It’s great that you are taking some time off your busy schedule to answer and listen to your fan’s comments. I am a great fan of your work like the 381 ppl above me ^. I/we would to like to know more about your work sir. When it comes to Hollywood movies, we are able to get hold of the movie scripts of almost all the movies online(those that have been released and finished its time in the silver screen). But as far as our industry is concerned, as far as i know there seem to be no access to such valuable resources. I don’t see anything wrong in making public, the scripts of movies that have run long in the theater. It would enable aspiring filmmakers like me and many other to know how a successful movie looked in papers and hence understand the difference between visualization and picturisation. It would be great if you take the first step and make your scripts available for people online or thro’ printed material.
As a hardcore fan representing few thousands of people who always participates in discussions on even micro level intellectual content of a movie, would like to let you know that we as a fan are ready to spend our time and interest in the build up of movie ‘Endiran’ hitting the screens. Please grant us the pleasure by providing the platform like what Peter Jackson did with video blogging of the making of King Kong or the highly appreciated and fun filled pre-release games to access Dark Knight trailer . It would both help the movie ‘Endiran’ with marketing and also enable fans to enjoy the fun with their favorite movie even days before the movie was released.

Couple of questions sir,
1) Economic times reports that Sun Pics is planning on an August 2010 release? Can you confirm the reliability of the source?
2) Refer to link from first Q, will Enthiran release in Hindi, Telugu on the actual day of the Tamil release or will the Hindi version be delayed intentionally ? Your last film, Sivaji the boss (Hindi dubbed) was recently released in the North belt 2 weeks ago after the Tamil and Telugu versions released back in June 2007.
3) Regarding the Hindi version, will it be dubbed by Rajnikant and Aishwarya themselves or will it be done by another voiceover cast? Were certain portions of the film reshot/cut for the Hindi audience and if so, was it the songs or film scenes in general? In addition, when will the audio launch take place and will it be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu simultaneously?
4) Tamil dailies report that you and renowned producer KT Kunjumon are joining up again (after Kadhalan, Gentleman.) Is this news true?
5) You mentioned in the last Vijay Awards that you would like to work with “Universal Hero” Kamal Haasan again. When can we expect that?
6) As a Harris Jayaraj fan, I loved the songs and picturization in Aparichit the stranger (anniyan in tamil). Unfortunately the hindi version didn’t emulate the success as it did in Tamil but is it possible to do a Hindi film with Harris Jayaraj soon?

Hello Mr. Shankar,
I just wish Endhiran breaks the record that 3 idiots created around the world. My only is request to you is to release the movie with proper subtitle, people out here in the US always wish to see movies in the native language with subtitles. This has been a serious handicap for your previous movies, your movies might not work in hindi, because the hindi belt don’t receive movies with a powerful hero but in other parts of the world your movies would be a smashing hit if they see your movies with subtitle. I am sure you will be the next John Woo of Hollywood.
I just wish you to get an Oscar for direction for this movie, I pray God that you become the second Indian after AR to get that honour.

The photos that you’ve posted of Endhiran, look amazing. It felt very nice to see you working (I’ve always wanted to see you working on your sets, with all the gadgets (like Camera, lights, etc). And it feels so great and inspiring that you’re so simple and realistic in your appearance, and offcourse Mr.Rajni Sir as well. I cant wait to see Endhiran, and I wish all the best for your whole team who have worked really hard on this project (especially the technicians), over the past couple of years.

I’m a native of Madurai but studying in Kurnool,Andhra Pradesh. I’m a dying hard fan of u. I’m astonished to know that u r in the blogging world now. I feel like I’m very much closer to the person whom I adore most ever since my childhood.
I have a question for u sir…It has always been unbelievable to me…How r u able to do such a wonderful job despite great pressure,while doing movies with such Great Personalities like Rajni sir,Kamal sir etc.? Truth be said,U have always been a source of Inspiration to me,regarding the Dedication to the profession sir.
Although I adore all of ur movies, I’m a special fan of the movie “BOYS” as it changed my life a lot. I was so much inspired by the song “GIRLFRIEND” that it made me win 1st Prize in Dance Competition in our college during my First Year of Medicine. The fact is that I have never performed any dance till then. I must thank u a thousand times for that sir.

The magnitude and the intensity of the movies shows right from gentlemen to shivaji and obviously in endhiran too.
If Rajnikanth is superstar of cinema in acting, you are superstar in directing.The simplicity with which rajni lives his life is similar to you.THe dirctor of movies like indian and gentleman and mudalvan and anniyan n sivaji were all magnus opus but the simplicity is the greateness of a virtue of a person and it still lies with you.
We are waiting for endhiran to release and hopefully get to see rajnikanth movie before his 60th bday:) and hope it ll be a great treat to watch him on screen with the best jodi FAntastic four(RAjnikanth-shankar-ar rahman and ash) .

Shankar sir, are you releasing Endhiran in 3D? it will be great if you do so, as it will be the first Tamil movie ever in 3D. After Avatar, all the studios in Hollywood, are aiming to releases their movie in 3D, for examples, Warners Bros. are releasing “Clash of Titans” in 3D and “Harry Potter 7, part 1 and part 2″ in 3D, all by converting from 2D to 3D. If you can make “Endhiran” in 3D and 2D, it will be amazing.

though i am much confident abt the movie, there are a few anxieties which keep haunting me…
1. as its boasted as first sci-fi movie in tamil, i am worried, if u push too much in the name of comedy which turn out to be silly instead of funny…
2. hope u would have realized all the mistakes done in sivaji, though its a greater hit… the recurring comedy sequence in shriyas house and with their family, the drivein car stunt, etc…
am only worried if u really have a group of people who call spades as spaded and be honest in their feedback on what u do… this would really help u to understand neutral and honest feedbacks abt whats in the production… instead of insiders who jus keep appreciating whatever u do for ur big stature and for superstar…
if u can reply, i ll speak more elaborately and help u in a way to understand the pulse of some of the intellectual and common audience…

Animatronics, Woow….I am not sure, if it is used in any Indian movies before? Now…..I am more excited to see “Making of Endhiran” after the movie release.
In lot of Hollywood Sci Fi movies, then bring in India atleast in one scene or dialogues, but I was always wondering why we don’t have any Sci Fi movies. Happy that you have taken the Sci Fi Genre after Political Thrillers…Cheers !!!
You have always lived the expectations we had in your movies, I am sure…you will be one of the cause (through your movies from now on) for the..CHANGE…that we are expecting in people for a better future…
Lot to say…can keep talking…awaiting Endhiran…but take your time to make it great for eyes especially on Animatronics and Graphics….

anna am a doctor anna…..
i have been really facinated by ur movies since my teenage!!!!
i have seen somestuffs which is impossible to produce!!!! ur always a class apart!!!! i know this is lot of pugalchi……
i always wanted to see u doing films with thalaivar(rajini sir)
but its gonna b a double treat with shivaji and endiran!!!!!
i like ur other genere films too anna like BOYS, Jeans……
its awesome in there own ways!!!!
if possible keep in mind this stuff anna which i always wanted from u!!!
i want u to make a full time romantic comedy anna esp in ur style!!!! like that of a remo or stuffs like that …..
also a film where u can depict ur different way of story telling may be like inglorious bastards!!!! there is a lot of scope to do a period film know anna with ur thinking and technical abilites why not try a really facinating film full of clear and uncut history!!!! and with ur screenplay it will be the most amazing achievment!!! i dont want to see u doing a King story or stuffs like that but something in the gener of inglorious bastards, aviator or even jodha akbar ( yea i know its a period stuff) but still with ur technology u can really proove ur worth anna!!!!
and really thankfull for making thalaivar doing stuffs like this and wanna see more raw!!! and real uncut stuffs from u anna!!!!!

also one morething anna………. i want u to do films with real good and clear actors!!! may be rithik roshan, surya , sidarth, or even simbu has a lot of acting potentials!!!!

Sir! I used to see lots of sci-fic english films and longed lots of times that when our tamil film going to be like that, but you the right person for that sir. No one can do it other than you. You said you were in the place where jurassic park, avatar films have been shot! whether you believe me or not i got goose worms(pull arichuruchu sir). Our tamil film that too thalaivar rajini’s film made in hollyhood Stanwinston studios, Who can do it sir? Hats Off to you! Even the Hollyhood technicians have said that the hollyhood films are not made like this! you are our James Cameron. He is not great sir, he has the background and support to do in hollyhood, You took the risk to do it. You the Real star!

My Biggest dream is that endhiran movie’s success should be even said in all Indian Tv channels and also on the Foreign Channels..

Since I am a huge fan of thalaivar,like the cas t &the crew I also wann this film to become the biggest block buster of all times I at times beleiev in senti ments. hence I humbly request you NOT to release the film during August time as thalaivar has experienced bad luck before. this may sound stupid. but jus a concern.thats all
